The A-Z of Negotiation Arts: Haggling

Haggling is about consistently seeking the own advantage. German flag - German languageThe goal is the lowest possible price and if the seller does not feel pain, then you did a bad job.

This kind of bargaining does not consider the relationship, because there is none, nor is one to be built up. You haggle on the bazar or with the dealer and do not worry about the “life after”.

Haggling is like the 100-meter running in a decathlon. Technically, it is easy to master, does not need perseverance and all that counts is the speed.

Negotiating in my opinion is more complex, multi-layered and more elaborate. You need endurance, technique, various tools and a strategy that will guide you through the entire competition. Negotiation takes into consideration the relationship, depends on a good preparation and various tools.

5 tips for successful haggling

  1. Make an aggressive price claim
  2. Theatrical body language helps
  3. You can also be noisy
  4. You can threaten to leave
  5. Do not smile!
